Concerts by Candlelight

Aug 13

Yoga Soup in Santa Barbara, CA hosts Concerts by Candlelight on August 21st, 2009 at 8pm.  Enjoy The Half Moons:
The Half Moons are comprised of one half local favorite Tim Beutler from OSO and one half traveling songstress Hailey Beavis from Scotland, UK.“Beavis’ subtle guitar acts as bed for a voice which treads liberally through the realms of folk, blues, jazz and soul - there is no ego to Beavis’ self penned offerings, whose universal subject matter are both personal and touching.” - www.gardensessions.co.ukBeutler’s sound travels from rock escapades to electronic soundscapes, to chamber and orchestral music. Timothy Beutler recieved both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music composition, and now plays drums and accordion in math rock americana band OSO.
And Meghan Lehman:
Somewhere between the angels of heaven and the devil himself lies the mind and songs of Santa Barbara singer/songwriterMeghan Lehman. At a glance, Lehman perfectly fits the part of the sweet-voiced, sun-bleached California chick strumming her guitar and singing pretty songs. But a closer look reveals surprisingly witty, layered, smart songs that indicate a far fuller musical personality than most of her peers can muster. Blending a timeless, old-fashioned style with utterly modern, sometimes ribald subject matter and lyrics, Lehman is an oddity among the armies of acoustic-guitar wielding songstresses, at times earnest or whimsical or sneering or all of the above in a single verse. Known for her lilting, beautiful voice and  disarmingly honest songs, it’s no wonder Lehman’s audience is quickly expanding beyond her Southern California home.
